دیود شاتکی یا دیود حامل داغ یک دیود نیمه هادی با افت ولتاژ پایین در حالت بایاس مستقیم و سرعت کلید زنی بسیار سریع می‌باشد. هنگام عبور جریان الکتریکی از دیود مقداری افت ولتاژ در دو سر دیود ظاهر می‌شود. در دیودهای سیلیکونی معمولی مقدار افت ولتاژ حدود ۰٫۶ تا ۰٫۷ ولت است در حالی که در دیود شاتکی افت ولتاژ حدود ۰٫۱۵ الی ۰٫۴۵ ولت است. به دلیل افت ولتاژ پایین در این نوع دیود می‌توان مدارهایی با سرعت کلید زنی بالا و کارایی بهتری طراحی کرد.

دیود 1N5822یک دیود شاتکی SMD از سری SS34 با تحمل ولتاژ 40 ولت و جریان 3 آمپر می باشد که دارای افت توانی کم و بازدهی بالا است. این دیود می تواند در محدوده دمایی 55- تا 150 درجه سانتی گراد کار کند.

The Schottky diode also is known as the Schottky barrier diode, or the hot-carrier diode is a semiconductor diode formed by the junction of a semiconductor with a metal. It has a low forward voltage drop and a very fast switching action. The cat's-whisker detectors used in the early days of wireless and metal rectifiers used in early power high-speed switching applications can be considered primitive Schottky diodes. Schottky diode is a metal-semiconductor junction diode that has less forward voltage drop than the P-N junction diode.
The most evident limitations of Schottky diodes are their relatively low reverse voltage ratings and their relatively high reverse leakage current. For silicon-metal Schottky diodes, the reverse voltage is typically 50 V or less. Some higher-voltage designs are available (200 V is considered a high reverse voltage). Reverse leakage current, since it increases with temperature, leads to a thermal instability issue. This often limits the useful reverse voltage to well below the actual rating.
A Schottky diode is one type of electronic component, which is also known as a barrier diode. It is widely used in different applications like a mixer, in radio frequency applications, and as a rectifier in power applications. It's a low voltage diode. The power drop is lower compared to the PN junction diodes.
