دستگاه سی ان سی کوچک (Mini CNC) نمونه کوچک شده سی ان سی فرز و یک ماشین کاری در ابعاد کوچک می باشد که با ورود برنامه از رایانه به ابزار ماشین، قابلیت حرکت در سه محور مختصاتی X، Y و Z را دارد. بیشترین استفاده از این دستگاهها، حکاکی هنری و ماشین کاری بر انواع چوب، آلومینیوم، پلاستیک، ام دی اف می باشد. از جمله مهم ترین قابلبت این دستگاه، ساخت نمونه دقیق انواع PCB در صنعت الکترونیک می باشد. استفاده از دستگاه های لیزر صنعتی بزرگ برای حکاکی پرهزینه می باشد بنابراین از نوع مینی CNC ها استفاده می گردد.
نداشتن بوی نامطبوع، سرعت و دقت بالا، هزینه تعمیر و نگهداری پایین، مصرف برق پایین، عدم نیاز به تجهیزات جانبی و ابعاد مناسب این دستگاه سبب می شود تا این دستگاه در محیط های کوچک و منازل کارآمد باشد.

Description:
A CNC machine is a computer-controlled carving machine. It reads G Code that instructs the machine how to move, what feed rate and spindle speed to use, which cutting tool should be in the spindle, etc. The machine can be a milling machine, lathe, router, welder, grinder, laser or waterjet cutter, sheet metal stamping machine, robot, or many other types of machines.
For larger industrial machines, the computer is generally an on-board dedicated controller. But for more hobbyist types of machines, or with some retrofits, the computer can be an external PC.
The CNC controller works together with a series of motors and drives components to move and control the machine axes, executing the programmed motions.
In most cases, a CNC machine is programmed by a programmer using CAM software who uses the software to apply tool paths to a 3D or 2D model of the part they want to make.
Once the programmer has finished his/her programming work, the program is fed into a post processor which will turn the CAM program into the G code the machine can read.
The G code is uploaded into a CNC machine along with all the cutting tools needed, raw material and work holding needed to hold the raw material.
Then a machinist will put the machine into the automatic mode and start the program to make the part.
Grbl is a free, open-source, high-performance software for controlling the motion of machines that move, that make things, or that make things move, and will run on a straight Arduino. If the maker movement was an industry, Grbl would be the industry standard.
Grbl is for three-axis machines. No rotation axes (yet) – just X, Y, and Z. There are many smaller modelmaker-hobbyist style desktop CNC machines. In general, these are lighter weight, less rigid, less precise, slower, and less expensive than their industrial counterparts, but can do well for machining objects out of softer materials such as plastics, foam, and wax.
It should be noticed that CAM does not actually run the CNC machine, but just creates code for it to follow.
