این ماژول یک مبدل همه کاره و قابل تبدیل به حالت ها و کارایی های متفاوت (USB-TTL، USB-RS233 ،USB-RS485 RS232-RS485، TTL-RS232، TTL-RS485) است که شش حالت مجزا قابلیت سازگاری با ولتاژهای 5 و 3.3 ولت را دارد و سبب شده بسیاری از میکروکنترلرهای پیشرفته نظیر ARM، STM32، DSP و ... بتوانند به راحتی با این ماژول در ارتباط باشند. تراشه CP2102 یک مبدل سریال با کیفیت می باشد که با قیمت مناسب کارایی و پایداری بالایی نسب به سایر مدل های مشابه نظیر PL2303, FT232, CH341 دارد. این مبدل که مبتنی بر USB طراحی شده است با سرعت بالا ، ابعاد کوچک قابل اتصال به کامپیوتر، لپ تاپ و... است.
ابعاد این ماژول بسیار کوچک و در اندازه 3.1 در 1.8 سانتی متر است و به راحتی بر روی برد و یا به قطعات دیگر متصل می گردد. میزان جریان مصرفی این ماژول بین 100 تا 500 میلی آمپر متغیر است و دارای مدار حفاظت در برابر افزایش جریان بیش از حد می باشد و هم چنین دارای LED ارسال و دریافت داده است. میزان انتقال داده این مبدل 2 مگابیت بر ثانیه می باشد و از رابط سریال های مختلف TTL، RS232، RS485 و USB پشتیبانی می کند.

سطوح رابط سریال:
سطح TTL: در این حالت می تواند بدون هیچ تبدیلی و مستقیما به میکروکنترلر متصل شود.
سطح RS232: در این حالت می تواند به پورت کامپیوتر و یا دستگاه های مجهز به پورت RS232 متصل شود.
سطح RS485: در این حالت می تواند به صورت خودکار عملیات ارسال و دریافت را کنترل و صورت دهد.(در حالت پیشفرض وضعیت گیرنده را دارد و در زمان ارسال، وضعیت را تشخیص داده و بصورت خودکار تغییر وضعیت می دهد).
رابط های مبدل به صورت USB به TTL، USB به 232، USB به 485، TTL به 232، TTL به 485 و 232 به 485 می باشد.
